VENUE - EDG Spring Tournament 2014

The venue for the EDG Spring Tournament is Luffenham Heath Golf Club, near Ketton in England’s smallest county - Rutland. The course was established in 1911 originally designed by Harry Colt. Most of the credit goes to James Braid who had many inputs in the course design between World Wars. Braid’s signature features are much in evidence - cross bunkering, grassy wastes and very subtly undulating greens hemmed by sculpted traps.

Luffenham Heath is blessed with fine holes. The dipping and arcing 2nd is a cracking hole as well as the strong medium par 4 7th hole with its carry over gorse and its fiendishly sloping green. The last four holes earn more plaudits than any other stretch of the course. The 15th and 16th holes are strong par 4’s and a long par 5 18th sandwich the course’s signature hole the 17th hole, a downhill long par 3 over a tangle of mounds and studded with deep bunkers.

The course yardage for the following events:

Mens

White tees

6418 yards par 70 SSS 71

Ladies

Red tees

5763 yards par 73 SSS 74

Seniors

Yellow tees

6139 yards par 70 SSS 70

At Luffenham, the traditions of the game are highly respected and so that everyone samples the delights of a graceful heathland course.    www.luffenhamheath.co.uk
