Upcoming Deaf Accessible Events at the Science Museum, London
Lots of free BSL interpreted and accessible programmes for deaf adults, children and their families
At the Science Museum in London there are some free, exciting, deaf-led events for families coming up, as well as free deaf-led and BSL interpreted evening events for adults! For more information, see below.
Science Museum’s SIGNtific programme of events for families occurs every first Saturday of the month. SIGNtific events are led by deaf presenters in BSL, and are voiceover interpreted so that any hearing family members can come along and enjoy the programme too! There’s no need to book, just turn up on the day. The next SIGNtific day will be on November the 7th:

1.30pm Give Us A Bell for ages 7 and under
Launchpad Briefing Room, Level 3
Join us for this interactive storytelling session and find out about Alexander Graham Bell and his most famous invention, the telephone. Help our presenter play a piano so that you can see the strings vibrate, make a phone call all the way to Australia, then discover what these two things have in common.
3.30pm Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles! for ages 7 and under
Things Gallery, Basement Level
This interactive show features bubbles of all sizes going up, down, this way, that way and all over the place…with a little help from the audience. Find out the secret Science Museum bubble recipe and you might even get the chance to step inside our famous human bubble.

Drop in to this workshop, make your own snowflakes and discover why no two snowflakes are the same.
All our Deaf-led events are voiceover interpreted and suitable for deaf and hearing families.

For all the adults, we hold Lates on the last Wednesday of every month in the evening! Our next Lates will be on the 28th of October with doors opening at 18:45. We have a BSL interpreted talk this month, and a tour led by one of our wonderful deaf presenter, John Wilson, as well as a variety of other activities with clear written instructions for everyone to get involved in. More information is below:

The Information Age gallery celebrates more than 200 years of innovation in information and communication technologies. Join John Wilson and re-live remarkable moments in history, placed into the context of our now computer-dependant society.
This event will be presented in BSL by a deaf presenter and voiceover interpreted. It will be suitable for deaf and hearing audiences.

On Wednesday the 28th, there will be a wide selection of activities throughout the evening where you can join in without the need for a deaf presenter or BSL interpreter. There will be instruction sheets available for you to follow so you can make or do things yourself.
